Welcome to Chris McDuffie Counseling

Chris helps individuals suffering from mental health and/or substance abuse problems. He is a highly effective leader who personalizes the care of each client.

Chris helps clients using Spiritual, Buddhist, Mindfulness, and secular, Western approaches (ACT, CBT, DBT). Chris is extremely well versed in 12 Step and SMART approaches to recovery. Clients needing help with managing emotions, relationships, and meeting their goals through private, individualized care and goal setting will find Chris most helpful.

About Chris McDuffie

Chris McDuffie, a retired high school principal with 14 years in practice, integrates Buddhist psychology into mindfulness coaching, drawing on his 11-year tenure at AToN Center, a 30-day medical detox and residential treatment center for co-occurring disorders. He is proficient in applying Buddhist psychology to DBT, ACT, CBT, and MBRP, and has lectured at national and international programs, including Pulsus Forums and APA-approved CEU trainings.

Chris holds a Master of Social Work from Fordham University, a CADC-II for Chemical Dependency Counseling, and certifications in Compassion-Based Psychotherapy and Embodied Transformation from Nalanda Institute. His podcast, “Spiritual Sobriety” on the Insight Timer App, explores incorporating Buddhist psychology with the 12 Steps for mindful recovery.
